Utilizing a ROTH IRA for real estate investments

Hello everyone!

New to the real estate investing world (I have one deal under my belt!) and I'm currently soaking up as much information as I can and creating a strategy for the coming months.

I have a chunk of money currently sitting in a Roth IRA. I've heard snippets of people mentioning using their IRA's to help fund deals, but I don't fully understand it. Anyone have any suggestions on some resources I could use to educate myself further? Strategies? Are these people literally pulling out their IRA's at a penalty to fund a deal, or is there something in the funding and it's just used as collateral/safety net? Any help is appreciated! Thanks you!

Michael
