Cleveland- change in population 2000-2017

hi everyone,

According to bestplaces.net stats , the population in Clevland has decreased by almost 19% between the years 2000-2017 (house depreciation 2008-2018: 30%ׁ)

If the trend continues , I'm not going to see any appreciation in the near future.

My question is how investors have the courage to invest in Cleveland according to this data?

Most every major area in the Midwest will see a population drain as people move to the warmer weather states. However the population drain isn't as dramatic as the stats you read would lead you to believe. Many people leaving the city of Cleveland are not leaving the market/region. They are just moving to the suburbs.

Here are the population numbers of the Greater Cleveland area over the last 30 years.

  • 1990- 2,102,248
  • 2000- 2,148,143
  • 2010- 2,077,240
  • Est. 2017- 2,058,844

Here are the numbers for the city of Cleveland specifically.

  • 1990- 505,616
  • 2000- 478,403
  • 2010 96,815
  • Est. 2017- 385,525
