Tampa starting a rental property portfolio advice

Hi I’m currently based in the North East but I’m looking to invest in properties in the Tampa region as rentals. I’m think a two bedroom may be best, but I’m open. I would be looking looking for income producing properties. Any and all advice would be appreciated. My research dictates the Tampa market has run in prices but do you think a rental strategy is still plausible in this market, any suggestions on areas. I’m in the early stages of my research and this would be my first real estate investment. Also is there merit in acquiring more than one property or just start with one? My budget would be $150k to $250k per unit give or take. Any advice or insight would be appreciated. Thanks
