Thoughts and Experiences on Condos

Hello all,

I am a new investor interested in the buy and hold strategy. In my area there are a good amount of condos for sale with an asking price around 55k. The fair market rent for the area is around 850 for a two bedroom and the location is really good because of a military base less than a mile away. I'm really interested in your all opinions regarding condos and associated HOA fees, versus the typical SFR or MFR property. What type of questions should I be asking if looking at this type property?
