How do you get into real estate?

Hey guys,

There are two careers I am considering: being a realtor or doing something in criminal justice. But I think I am leaning more towards realty because it just interests me more.

I just have some questions for those of you who are realtors:

1. Do you have to go to college, vocational, apprenticeship? Which one is it and how long does it take to get your license?

2. How much commision do you get off of a sale (what percent) and how much of that goes towards the company you work for (assuming it does)?

3. How much did you invest in schooling/training/getting your license to become a realtor?

4. What do you like BEST about your job as a realtor, and what do you like LEAST about it?

Please answer these questions, they would really help me in deciding my future career. I want to get information from people who actually are realtors to help me see if that's what I should do or not.
