Any thoughts on Modern Architecture?

Just about any where I go here in the DFW house after house they all look the same. Brick "long hair" (big black pitch roof) houses. I understand that this is probably because it's cheaper to build these houses. My question is, are mondern homes not easy sales? The only builder that I know that is building modern homes in the DFW area is Kessler Woods development in Oak Cliff. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like a modern house. Any one here have any experience trying to sell one or have any ideas as to why there is not much going on on this type of homes? I thought modern was in?????
