Property investment in Milan/Madrid

Hello.  

I found the BiggerPockets podcasts a few days ago and just joined the site.  

I live in London but am currently based in Dubai for six months.  I own two properties in London; one two bedroom flat in which I live and a rental property.

I am now looking to invest in rental properties in Milan and/or Madrid.  I have previously lived in Milan (and am looking to relocate there again in a few years) and my sister is based in Madrid.  I am currently trying to get a better understanding of the buying process, tax implications and general things to keep in mind/beware of.

Please let me know if you have any experience or knowledge of buying property in these cities (or Italy/Spain) - it would be very helpful if someone at BiggerPockets could share some insights/advice.
