How does probate process work?

Hello, my husband and I are newer to real estate investing. We have purchased one triplex to rent out, but are looking more now for flip opportunities. We're really interested in houses involved in probate, but we don't quite understand the process. Can anyone help me understand the process that happens when a person passes and has property that is either testate or intestate (will or no will)? I'm trying to find information at the courthouse level and I'm not sure who would have this information and at what stage of the probate process they would have it. Or perhaps I should be going directly to an attorney? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Heather - Mahold Properties, Pittsburgh PA
