Self directed ira

we are planning on investing in real estate in a self directed ira. I have read that the cost of servicing thr account can be high. I was hoping that someone who is already doing this, and has done the research, could tell me which company they thought was the best with good service and low cost. We are thinking of going with The Entrust Group.

Thanks

John

Hello and welcome to BP! Yes, there is a bunch to consider with bringing on a self directed IRA. I have not gotten one yet but I have been shopping around for a few months. A couple of things that kind of turned me off was the fact that it does not allow depreciation and you have to pay tax on any net profit each year that you have any. Every day that goes by I think of something else to ask. Something I just thought of is how do you pay for any tax due?

I have talked to several companies and there costs are pretty high to set you up, yearly fees based on your balance, excess funding, etc..  Right now I really cannot make a recommendation since I am still deciding.  Entrust and uDirect services seem to be a couple of the best.  You found a good site for learning and asking questions.  Good luck to you!
