I know of vacant properties, how do I find the owner? What steps?
I own a few rentals, but now have capital to buy more. I am aware of vacant properties that I am interested in, but cannot find the owners. Any recommended approaches? i know this is a basic question and appreciate any help.

Pull the property tax bill. If that's getting paid, you know two things:
1) Owner is at least engaged enough to write a check to retain ownership of the property, and
2) You now know a mail box that is checked at least a couple times a year.
If it's not getting paid, you know a property to keep an eye on at the auction house (or however that is handled in your area), and because you were already aware of the property you might have some insight that other bidders lack which could allow you to be comfy making the highest bid.
