helocs with hard money

Hi guys, I am new to investing and my goal is to fix and flip. I am planning on using hard money lending and a HELOC for the down payment for hard money lender and other fixed holding costs till sold. Has anyone else started out this way? Is this smart? I really think this is the only way I can get started though. Please advise and thank you in advance.
