Direct Mail Campaign Columbia South Carolina

I thought I would share something sort of funny and sort of strange about a recent direct mail campaign I have started in the columbia SC area.

I recently bought a really well priced unit in a neighborhood and wanted to see if I could get another one or five. So, I decided I would do a tax search on the owners of the units and mail to some of them . I have my reasons why I mailed them but won't discuss them openly, but the juice would be worth the squeeze. Well, I am sure my open rate is pretty good with the attempts I have made because I keep getting phone calls from the local sheriffs office about scams and people being concerned of getting scammed. I was told that because I hand wrote all the letters and they were only on a yellow page of legal paper without letter head that it seemed like a scam. I don't know if this is commonly encountered in other peoples experiences but I thought I would share.  I did however get one very solid response and I am following up on it now but out of 12 letters send I got a response from 8 of them..Just not from the intended party. Ill take it as a tie...not a win or a loss because I know people are opening my letters.
