Hello,

I'm new to BP. I've been following some of the discussions on the forums and I'm impressed with the engagement and productive discussions that have been.  I'm sure my subject has been spoken to dozen or more times but here goes....

My husband and I bought some rental residential property from a friend who is in the property management business.  He manages our 2 double sided units (all rented). He mentors us. We are still in the red. Just invested alot of money to bring the units up to snuff to make them rentable and clear inspections, etc.

Our current situation is that I work full-time, my husband runs a small business from our home. Combined we make a good income.  Our forward thinking goals are to have me (on a full-time basis) manage the properties so that we can cut the middle man out and increase our inventory.  With that being said, I have zero experience. Some say - get your real estate license (could that conceivably help?) , some say read this book, watch that webinar. How do you school yourself into becoming a good property manager and make sound business decisions?
