How to divide a parcel

Does anyone here (ideally someone in Dekalb County, Atlanta) have experience dividing parcels of land into separate addresses?  I'm trying to find out:

What government official(s) I would need to talk to?

What the costs would be?

What the time frame is?

Are there any caveats I should be aware of?

Thank you!

You will need a survey of the plots.  Land will have to be re-staked which the survey company will do.  Drawings have to be sent in for approval.  Contact a survey company as they can help guide.  They deal with this stuff daily and will have all the answers for you.  Cost will depend on how big of area you are looking at subdividing.  A quick call to the zoning dept or building dept will help you.  I thought the US Post Office assists with addresses or provides final approval but I may be wrong here.   I had my yard staked to find the property markers for a fence project and it cost me $325 and they provided me with drawings for the fence permit.
