Hi,

I am new to investing. I live in Austin. I like to invest in rental properties. I like to invest in 2 properties each around $125k

1. Which areas are the best for rental properties and appreciation in Dallas/DFW areas?.

2. Which are the best for investments for rentals? SFH or Condos or Apts etc?

Please advice. I am new to this investment things

Thanks

Chai

@Saheed Oseni most realtors are going to be better at finding MLS deals. You need discounted/distressed deals. So you may want to start looking for wholesalers and find a good hard money lender. Even if you don't need the rehab loan, it may be worth it because they won't lend on a bad deal.

@kyle Mccaw Thanks for the input, is there a central location to find wholesalers or do I just find them through networking? I've also been going to delinquent tax auctions for my county.

Hello Chai!  Go where it's hot.  This puts you in a closer range, especially if you thinking about property management.  Try to be within an hour drive.  I agree that you will have to be outside of Dallas to find anything you are looking for.  I have lived in the Dallas area for 58 years and know it pretty well.  The 5 years I wasn't there I lived in Denton going to college in the late '70's.  You need to deal with someone that has been around here for a while, not including me.

You might be moving home to save money but be careful of who you are listening to, especially those who have no experience in your field.  Know that most older folks are brainwashed and living in a world that does not exist anymore.  Times have changed and you need to keep current.  Education never ends and you should never retire completely unless you have over 2 million dollars and no debt.  Many folks here are just trying to try to sell you something but I am not.

Good luck to you!
