Investment property in BK

We have a lead on a property set to be auctioned at the Public trustees  soon. We just found out it is tied to the owners bankruptcy. How could we help owner out and purchase while in bankruptcy and have a win win situation before auction. We know the owner. We have purchased several homes for buy and hold investments at auction but this is a new situation we have never dealt with. Any insight would be appreciated.
