Will a 2-unit townhome qualify as a duplex?

I have been considering making my first buy and hold investment property a du/tri/fourplex that I live in owner-occupied for a year or two. Unfortunately, there are not a whole lot of great multi-unit properties in my area so I've been having a hard time finding a property that is worth the investment. I stumbled across a neighborhood that has nice 2 unit homes, but they are technically "townhomes" rather than duplexes. If I were able to get one of these 2-unit townhomes, would it be likely that I would be able to have it qualify for an FHA loan as a single duplex instead of 2 separate townhomes? I'm not sure how the terms of an FHA would work in that situation.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
