# of Rentals in a specific area?

Wondered if anyone could tell me where I can find the following information?
-# of single family residences in a specific county.
-# of single family residences that are rentals
-# of apartment complexes.

I ask because I went to file an eviction notice today and was told by the person working at the courthouse that they have filed >2,000 dispossesory's in the past month. Holy Crap!!!! So the above information would be helpful.

And if this is true, the 2,000, I can't imagine it is just here in my area...probably similar throughout the US? Why would anyone want to be a landlord?
