HOAs with Doorman

Anyone here own a condo or co-op that has a doorman? If so would you mind sharing what your HOAs are running?

I am looking at condos in South Ameica, and if I am reading the Spamish correctly, HOAs are running about $10,000- $12,000(US) per year if the building has "services". One specifically said there was a doorman.

OK, if there are salaried employees, I can see where the HOA would be higher, but still $12,000 a year sure seems like a lot of money for HOA. Especially in an area where salaries are a lot lower than in the USA.

Well, I'm in a condo community that has a guard at the gate 24 hours a day. Monthly fee here is $220/mo, and I got a notice that it would stay there for this year.

Most around here are in the $100 to $150 per month here!

That's VERY low from what I hear! I think mine is still rather low, too... My brother in Houston is getting railroaded on his though...I think his are probably twice what mine are.

There are roughly 450 units in my development, and they keep the place looking nice all the time. They do a very good job around here, so I'm *OK* with it. Not OK enough to buy another place in here, but close.

i pay around $350 for my condo HOA, and that is about average downtown. Some are around $500, but they have many more services than we do.

$12000/year though, you better have valet parking, gym, pool, etc etc!

You can sure learn a lot on line with a little research. I found a group of Uruguayans on line and I learned:

Large ticket items are priced in US dollars. Lower priced items are priced in Uruguayan pesos. The monetary symbol for each of them is "$"

Association fees are by the month, and the larger fees probably include heat and maybe electricity. So $12,000 is actually a little over $(US)500 per month. Still a lot of money, but maybe not so bad if it includes a doorman, heat, and utilities.

Including utilities is somewhat common in the Denver area, too. Mostly for old master-metered apartment buildings that have been condo-converted, but not converted to individual metering on utilities.
