Driving for Dollars - What to do when you find a property?

Hi,

I recently started driving for dollars and looking for distressed homes. I found a few and am wondering the best possible courses of action. Should I knock on the door and ask if they're selling? Should I leave my direct mail piece in the mailbox? What have you found that works the best for turning these properties into sales? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
