How to market my skills

Emily Lai
Posted

My W2 is affording me some extra time and I want to spend that time building my REI experience.

I am a commercial lighting and interior designer and lighting controls expert.  I design small to large scale commercial projects.

So, I'm very comfortable in the construction space.

My husband and I have been investing in real estate for 5 years, currently have 14 units.

My strength has been value engineering our construction projects. We've done 3 large unit renovations, and 2 ADU's.

All within budget.  My other strength is property management.  We self manage and we've had 0% vacancy, <1% late payment, all occupied at market rents.

(we rented out an apartment before we even closed on the property!)

I'm just really frugal and really efficient in the way I plan, shop, and execute.

I'm currently helping my cousin to buy their first add value property.  She told me that my knowledge and experience is valuable.

So, I'm trying to see what can I offer to the community.  I love analyzing deals, designing and budgeting.

What do you think? Are there people that can benefit from my help?

Hey Emily- It sounds like you have a lot of complementary skills to offer.  The key is probably determining your specific target market and a clear message about how you can help them.  Also, having a simple online presence that tells your story will make a big difference.
