Potential Investment Property: Next Steps and Repair Considerations?

CC Uche
Posted

Hi everyone,

I'm considering a potential property for my first investment project or a house hack. Based on the images, it looks like there are a handful of repairs needed. Before moving forward, I'm seeking advice on the best next steps.

  1. Contractor Estimates: Should I get a contractor to inspect the property and provide an estimate for the repairs? Does it usually cost money to have a contractor come out and do this?
  2. Comparative Repairs and Comps: When it comes to making repairs, how can I determine the appropriate level of repairs? I want to ensure I’m not overspending, but also making necessary updates. What are some tips and tricks for assessing this in comparison to neighboring properties?

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
