Updated about 1 year ago,
First eviction in my landlording career.
I went to court this morning for my first eviction. I met my attorney for the first time. We spoke for a few minutes out in the hall. He told me that the tenant is using a free advocate. The advocate has reported that the tenant has a conflict today and can't come to court. "What is the conflict?" I asked. "We aren't allowed to ask," he told me. "We have to assume that the advocate knows the reason and believes it to be a valid reason. The court date will be adjourned to late December," he tells me.
Meanwhile I'm getting ZERO rent. This is a tenant that came with the building. Nothing but trouble and few late payments for a year now.
