Do I need a buyer agent

My wife and I are getting ready to buy two duplexes from a builder in TX, and this is our first REI purchase other than our primary home, which is now a rental.

Do we need a buyer's agent or a RE attorney to get the deal done?

The alternative is using the seller's agent, who is the daughter-in-law of the builder, which I have concerns about,

I would appreciate any feedback and references of who I could use.

This is in the San Antonio, TX, Market.

Thanks!

I’m in Texas and only use the listing agents. I’ve bought 19 rentals using only the listing agents. It’s easier for me and give me an advantage.

@john I am looking at additional investments in TX - where have you had success?

I buy properties in the 200-260k range in central areas near freeways in the DFW area. I target working class hoods in Grand Prairie, Arlington, Fort Worth and Haltom city. I paid 210k for my last two in Arlington that were pretty much turn key.  The one I closed on a couple weeks ago only rents for $1950/month (because my wife offered it to her friend to rent for that cheap-lol) and the other one rents for $2465/month with sec 8. I find homes in this price range appreciate higher due to much higher demand. And market rent in the cheap 2k/month price range for starter homes has really gone up the last few years due to low inventory.
