Offset W2 Taxes

Posted

I am not an accredited investor. If I invest into a multifamily house, eg 25k$ for a certain % ownsership into the LLC that was created by the actual entity for that house. Can I use the depreciation to offest my W2 taxes?

I ask as I recently found out that you cant do that with syndications

From my understanding and how I have done this.... you can take a deduction from what ever % from the partnership LLC you want. For example, I own an LLC with a partner for 1 SFR. He doesn't need or want the write off, but I do. So I claim 100% deductions on my taxes each year on that property. My CPA said you can split it how ever you want with the other owners of the LLC - its your decision. Double check this with your CPA- this is how i was advised.

Best of luck!
