Adding a bedroom to a block-built house: block vs wood
Hello BP!
We are remodeling our investment home in FL and are considering using pressure-treated wood to wall in the lanai and carport instead of brick.
The enclosed lanai will be a dining room. The enclosed carport will be bedroom with a bathroom.
PT wood would save us about 25% of costs. Multiple contractors have re-assured us that with current hurricane ties wood will hold up just fine. Furthermore, we are already monthly clients of a local pest control company, therefore, pest control issues should be mitigated also.
Anyone with experience in FL see a problem with this? Thanks in advance for any and all help with this. It is greatly appreciated.

Hey @Brian Zeankowski,
I did the same in one of my flips here in Saint Petersburg, you are good with the addition being a wood frame.
Good Luck!
