Purchasing a Rental Property for your own LLC

Posted

Hey all. My LLC, which is just me and a partner, are looking to purchase a rental property in Maine. I hold a real estate license in Maine. Is it possible for me to act as the buyer agent and collect the offered commission on the sale?

@Russell William Phillips, I don't see why not. Agents can represent themselves, others, and organizations. It isn't a conflict of interest because all of your "interests" are on the buyer's side.

I have a single member LLC and represent my LLC as a buyer's agent with no issue.

The only place you would have an issue is if you were also the listing agent of the property your LLC wanted to buy. Then you would have a conflict as the buyer (LLC's owner/member) and also the seller's agent.
