Newbie Ohio Investor - Considering RE License

Hi Everyone,

I've been so excited and overwhelmed by the information available here on BP. I was introduced a few weeks ago and have scoured forums, blogs and listened to several recent podcasts.

I'm going through a major life change because I'm leaving my career of 11 years in IT to stay home with 2 young kids. My husband and I are both very spontaneous and I am already finding value in this community to balance us with practical, calculated moves. I have thoroughly enjoyed running some of the simple calculations available from this site (math major, IT career... I'm one of those :)). Sadly, they have all led us to walk away from properties to date.

As risk takers we've had some business blunders and we've had some successes. We're both really excited about the prospect of buy and hold investing in real estate in southwest Ohio. We actually have 2 properties that were each of our primary residences before getting married.

My question to you is whether you think there is value in me getting a real estate license. I have never had such aspirations but I do like the idea of having more tools to see what is available and making a little money on our deals as well as working with a local friend in the investment business.

Please comment either way, I'd love to hear what you think! Thank you!!
