Hello,

I need advise on locating owners of a property. I have what may be my first property however I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to locate the current owner(s) of the property. I saw this house about a year ago however at that time I was only contemplating getting into real estate investing so I did nothing besides jot down the address.

Well, fast forward to about a week ago, I drive to see what is the status of the home and it still (if not in worse) condition it was in a year ago. The back windows are boarded, the fence is knocked down in some area...you get the idea. It is clear code enforcement was the one to board the property because there appear to be an extremely old notice laying on the ground. I researched the tax records and got the name and address of what is to be the owners of the property (which is listed as an investment company). Since this investment company had a local address I decided to drive and see if it they were still in busy. There is no sign of a business by that name at that address. Also, the last dated information on the record is 2007.

I would greatly appreciate any insight on how to locate or gather contact information for this company. Should I just mail a letter and hope it is forwarded??? Is there anyway to do more research to see if they are still in business? Any information would be greatly appreciated, I do not want to pass up on what may be a good opportunity the second time around.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, you can go to the north Carolina secretary of state website and search for businesses. Once you find the business, you can click on it and it will tell you the names and addresses of the officers of the company. Then maybe try mailing to their personal address or looking the individuals up on the tax website to find any other addresses they may have. That's stalking at its best :)
