Door knocking

Now, I'm getting much more agressive. I'm tired of useless efforts that have no return (mail, am messages) I pursue and talk to anyone about the properties I have interest in..neighbors, lawyers, family... Live people have the answers.
But somehow I am scared to knock on the door of the person that lives in that rundown shack, even when I know they have no mortgage, and/or they're foreclosing next week, someone died, whatever. If its vacant I have no worries. But if they live in it, I have some mental block that I dont want to knock and ask them about it, because, I dont know, I think it may be offensive or something. Am I being ridiculous here? Whats my problem?
