Just finished my first TINY HOUSE in Costa Rica!
Hey everyone,
I haven't been as active on BiggerPockets lately due to the different projects that I have been doing and the restructuring of our company to set it up to grow to 1000 units. But I am planning on going to the BP conference in San Diego in October, so I am excited to connect with people there.
Anyways, for those who haven't seen the few posts that I have made over the past several months, let me catch you up to speed. I purchased a property in Costa Rica this past January with a group of investors and we have been renting it out on Airbnb. It has a main house and a guest house, and also a grounds keepers quarters. Additionally, we just finished building a tiny house on a corner of the property that we came to find out belonged to us after we purchased the property.
I know, it sounds irresponsible to not know exactly what one has purchased, however, this little portion of the property was tucked away behind a wall of trees and vegetation. I only found out that I owned it because one of the workers walked onto the property from a little gate in the corner while I was talking to my general contractor. I asked my contractor what that guy was doing and he said that he was probably taking a leak. Then I asked where he was walking onto the property from and my contractor said that I also owned the little piece of land behind the wall of trees. So I walked back there to see it and it was a beautiful, little, secluded patch of land that overlooked a beautiful valley on the East side of the property. As I looked out over the valley, I thought, this would be perfect for a tiny house. So after talking with the other partners and selling them on the idea, we completed the tiny house in about 2 months for about $40,000.
Here are some pictures.
Now that it is done, I just listed it on Airbnb and we already have bookings this week (Of course I listed it really now to get some guests in there quickly. The regular price will be around $99 a night).
Let me know if you have any questions about this property. I'll be happy to answer what I can. And if you want to see more pictures or videos of the tiny house you can see them on my channel or on the property website both of which you can find links to in my bio.
Have a great day and good luck investing.
