Mentorship from a investor/agent

Now I'm not exactly new to realestate but i would be as an investor/agent I've been part of two property management companies and both have been from the ground up. I've primarily been handling the carpenter/maintenance for over 5yrs and feel as though it's time to make the leap to the other side. My goal is to get around more like minded individuals who have a passion for realestate . I'll have my license to be RE agent by the end of this month and am in the process of looking for the right brokerage as well . So I would like to find someone who's familiar with both side's of the business. I've been told this isn't the ideal way to go about this but my options are limited as I look to venture on my own.
