How important is a Realtor's License as a beginner?

I'm a beginner in real estate investing and I'm considering placing a piece of my savings into obtaining a Realtor's License. I've been told that it's not necessary (living in the state of Ohio) but I'm just trying to gauge the pros and cons; make sure I'm not wasting time and money.
