First property complete but need to vent
Long story short. Househacking a duplex, did about 50% of renovations, and it was the most stressful time of my life. Being that this was my first deal, there were a lot of things I didn’t anticipate. My primary job is as a nurse with long hour days amongst other things I prioritize like gym, reading, side hustles, etc. DIY took about 2 months and I got out of shape and felt as I wasn’t growing due to not reading/podcasts/studying medicine. I understand DIY can save money but my quality of life took a hit and I rather live my life stress free and do my daily activities. The money I can save does not triumph my quality of life. Therefore moving forward, I will outsource everything to professionals on my next properties. This is my vent. I am curious to know if anyone else has the felt/experienced the same?

I hear you, doing a reno DIY is not for everybody, and it's completely understandable to vent, but I will point out, you did grow:The experience you learned from the DIY is worth way more than podcasts / reading, you just got the real learning of what it takes to do the job. At the very least you learned that your time is valuable and it is way more worth it to you to pay somebody to do the type of work you don't like, which is a very valuable lesson! You also know how what is involved in doing the work, so you can better evaluate what is worth having somebody else do.
I don't say this to take anything away from your venting, but just to remind you of the great lesson you learned. Now you know, rather than have to wonder, whether or not you should do the work yourself.
Good luck on your next one, it will go more smoothly than this one!
