Buying Pre-foreclosure Homes

Hello all,

I’m a newer investor and am constantly looking for news ways to find and approach potential deals. I have found some properties that are in the pre foreclosure stage and that actually have an auction date already posted for a lot of these homes. My question is can I still approach the homeowners to offer them a deal or do I have to wait for the auction since there is already an auction date set? Thank you for any and all advice.
