Should a newbie avoid repo auctions?

I live in the Akron Ohio area and am just about to sell my first flip. Now I am looking for the next one. I am a young guy and prefer to buy a real piece of junk house for dirt cheap and renovate everything inside while I live there. Given the market right now, finding cheap homes isn't easy. I am considering repo auctions but am leery of cloudy titles. I am wondering how you guys and girls go about protecting yourself in this situation to make sure you don't wind up buying a house with a ton of liens? Is this something you think I might want to stay away from given my relative inexperience? Any advice would be really appreciated!
