Multiple LTRs in Huntsville or 1 STR in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge

Hey yall - 

I'm selling a home in Nashville. I'll be doing a 1031 exchange. I love the idea of having a cabin in the mountains, but the price tag is starting $650k for a 2-3 bedroom cabin.

The other option is putting that $200k towards 2-4 doors in Huntsville, AL which has a lower entry point but I'm confident in it's growth in the future.

Does anyone have experience with short term rentals near Gatlinburg, TN? What are you seeing yearly income gross? Or how about experience with Huntsville? 


What would you do???

I am not sure what you are asking. You are trying to compare 2 different strategies that have their pros and cons. Then you are adding more complication by trying to compare 2 different locations. Other things you should think about is are you looking for cash flow play or appreciation?

I am trying to get my first LTR in the Huntsville market and its pretty hot here. Why not reinvest the money back into the market you know?
