Raw land development in twentynine palms

Hi, 

I just acquired 5-acres of raw land in a fairly remote area of Twentynine palms that I plan to develop and put multiple rental houses on the lot. Can those that are in-the-know about Twentynine palms provide some advice about steps to get started with my development project?  What do you wish you knew before you started developing in Twentynine palms?
