Development units per acre

Hello BP I'm looking at possibly doing my first development. I been sitting here trying to calculate how many multi-family units can I put on the lot. I can’t seem to figure the math needed for this.

The Lot size I’m looking to purchase is:
0.20 acres
8,712 square feet

City Building Density Codes:
* Twelve dwelling units per acre and mixed use structures with commercial uses on the first floor.
* Eight multifamily dwelling units per acre.
* Eight single-family dwelling units per acre.

I believe an acre of land is 43,560 square feet? BP how would I figure this equation?

Lol should have paid more attention in math class.

There is some department at the city or county called "planning and zoning commission" or some such. They're the ones who wrote whatever it is you're reading. Call, or better, visit and have a frank discussion with a "planner". My advice is to be totally up front and discuss exactly what you want to do. Sometimes folks try to interpret the rules them selves and try to find a way through the rules that lets them do something the city and the planners don't what. That's the road to pain and expenses. OTOH, if you say "here's what I would like to do. Can I?" and "help me figure out what to do with this parcel" you will get much further.
