Looking for Contractors for Various Things in Aurora Colorado

Hi all - 

I'm have a newbie question.  Are we allowed to ask for referrals to contractors for a variety of things - even if for now it's for our own home?  I don't want to break any rules.  :)

Is there a resource list for preferred contractors that I might be able to get my hands on?
