Digging up old gas tanks

Mike Nichols
Posted

I stopped by a property today that is very distressed. I talked to the previous owner that gave the property away awhile ago. She does not think the current owner is going to do anything with it. It was an old convenient store with gas pumps. I don't think the location can really support putting in a new store. It is a back country road with little traffic. It was built on part of the previous owners land and subdivided out.

This property will be a scrape and rebuild something. Thinking single family.

The unknown would be disposing of the tanks. She thinks the tanks are 10,000 gallon fuel tanks. Anyone have experience excavating tanks like this? Demo of the property may drive the cost too high to be able to build something that can bring in enough rent.

Thanks

Mike
