Anyone use Tstud, an R20 insulated stud?
Has anyone used the T stud (or Tstud) framing members? This seems like a big framing innovation compared to solid, traditional framing. The video I saw rates a 2x6 Tstud vertical load at 8600 lb. vs 2200 lb. for a traditional 2x6 or 900 lb. for a traditional 2x4. The R values at the Tstud, they claim, are as high or higher than the wall cavities. R-20. So, stronger and better insulating capacity.
I don't know the price, but the vendor/manufacturer claims is that it will add $1,000 for a traditionally framed 2500 sq.ft. house. Implementation wise this product looks to be a no brainer. 24" OC framing could be used rather than 16" OC. 1/2 drywall could be used. No drill electrical wire installation. Theoretically no drill wall plumbing, unless you hit a dowel in which case you'd add a long screw repair.
Please post your thoughts. I'm considering this product for a high wind area in NC.
