What sparked your motivation?

What was the one thing that sparked your motivation, and drive you to give real estate investing your all? Wether it be a book, mentor, even a video you found online. What was the one thing that pushed you so hard that you had no other option but to be successful?

Rich dad poor dad sparked my interest and opened my eyes to real estate investing. Real estate made a lot of sense. People need water, need food, need air, need housing to survive. This will never change. I want to be part of something that will be here for the next 50yrs.

@Donald WalkerThere was one good quote from one of the guests talking about risk. The risk of buying a house, the risk of putting most of your money into a flip, he said there’s another risk to consider. The risk of being 70 sitting in a nursing home kicking yourself for not trying harder in life, wishing you had the guts to take a risk. Spent my whole life living week to week, entirely due to poor decisions. I always assumed I would always be this way, the thought that I could own a house was something I couldn't fathom. financial freedom wasn't something I thought possible. After some particular bad decisions I was left with less than I ever had before, except a new pair of handcuffs. I realized that my life was stressful and unfulfilling because of MY decisions and not much else. So I changed everything, I stopped spending money on anything that didn't make me money, spent all my time learning, and cut everything out of my life that wasn't getting me closer towards my goals. Along the way I found real estate, I started buying up foreclosures and bought myself a good level of freedom fairly quickly. For me, it required life taking a giant shit on me to get my act together. I do not suggest this method, but I'm grateful for the experience.

I used to flip cars (still do when i come across a good deal).......well I flipped a car and made a nice profit off of it......my friend used my money as leverage and paid me back with interest over 12 month period. I asked him what did you do with that money.....he said he flipped some houses.........this was 2013ishFast forward to summer 2017.....I have 9 years HR experience and i had just read RDPD (recommended by the same person from 2013), was at my desk one day and said, im worth more than this.....my boss was micro managing me.....was very stressed etc.....so i quit......picked up contract HR opportunities and did that well into 2018......July 2018 i started my wholesale journey.....still a newbie but remaining steadfast and consistent......

What sparked my motivation was the idea of being able to quit my day job and pursue a more meaningful life! Watching my Mom and Dad HAVING to go to work to pay bills and to be able to afford taking care of us kids. My dad being gone all day working 2 jobs his whole life... I thought to myself " I do not want to live like this". As of today they both STILL have to work and my dad is in his 60's and Mom and her late 50's. So after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, and just searching for a way to do it, I decided that RE investing was the way to go! I still have a long road ahead, but now I have the direction.

I read a real estate investing book when I was 17. The guy said there's enough rental property within 5 miles of you to retire on. I said I can do that. When I turned 18 I bought my first rental house with cash I saved from my 3 jobs. I was able to retire at 42 because I took action.

I have to give Brandon Turner credit on this one. I picked up his book (Real Estate Investing) last year around August. Prior to that I tore my ACL late march and had lots of time to read read read. I told myself last year that I would get through at least 12 business books because time was passing by me to fast and I needed to find a way to make more money. I already do electrical work in Long Island NY and being in the construction field had me thinking about flipping homes. I went to Barnes And Nobles but couldn't find a good book on flipping homes until my cousin recommended Brandons book. Once I opened it and began to read it I felt every word speaking to me with just finding ways to make passive income, flipping, renting, etc and that book just changed my life. I am hungry and as a newbie I just want to say thank you all and 2019 here we come!
