How much are attorney fees?

I'm wondering how much can a developer expect for attorney fees for a development project of residential condo (let's say 5-10 units)? Do people hire per project? Or do companies hire a legal consultant and pay annually; therefore attorney fees are fixed and split between projects? 

I'm in the Los Angeles area but would love to hear any experience you had with attorney fees, either from attorney POV or developer POV. Thank you.
