Warrant on roof?

I had a house built five years ago and am now experiencing roof leaks. My contractor gave a look and said it appears major and a new roof will have to put down in that section. I checked the warranty book that the builder provided me and it states roof warranty is only for one year. That seems absurd as I always thought roof warranties were for 10+ years.  Has anyone experienced this? Thanks all.

@Dave H. a builder warranty is usually 1 year for the labor on all the work performed on your house. Then anything like appliances, HVAC, lights would have the manufacturers warranty for parts which is typically 90 days. Roofing warranty of 20 or 30 years for shingles would be on the material, the shingles themselves from the manufacturer are guaranteed to last 20-30 years.

Someone would have to determine if the roof leak is caused by bad labor or is there something wrong with the shingles themselves. If you know the manufacturer of the shingles, you could call them and they would probably send a rep out to investigate and be sure its not their issue.
