Energy Efficiency Tips and Strategies

I am interested in learning about great energy efficiency tips and strategies that can be implemented during the remodeling process. While I am on this journey of exploration, I am also examining the best ideas for making new construction more energy efficient.

Would you please share any resources that will help me in this process?

I am looking at information by searching here on BP. There may be some postings here on BP on this topic that you highly recommend and are willing to share.

I also welcome any information regarding reading materials, videos, magazines and any other resources that you recommend that I consider. I would also appreciate any proven strategies that you have personally implemented. Thanks!

We've used a combination of closed cell foam and dense pack cellulose. The increase in comfort in the home provided by good insulation and air sealing is totally worth it. Tenants are happy with low utilities and the apartments WILL command an increased rent because of the lower utilities. Happy tenants are good tenants. Smart tenants look at the combined rent plus utilities. If an apartment is not air-sealed well, tenants will be buying space heaters because they'll feel cold, and have sky-high electric bills.

Those who say there's no profit are very short-sighted. We have put energy efficiency upgrades into all of our rentals, and have gotten about 1/3 of the cost back in the form of rebates. The rest will pay for itself in about 3 years.
