What price per s.f. estimate do you use on new homes in LA?

We are estimating prices on new home construction in Los Angeles.  My architect likes to use $200 psf.  On extensive remodels we have come in way under that number.  We are builder owners so we do not pay markup to a General Contractor.  Your experience or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Finishes will be high end.

Thanks!

FYI it will be several homes in a small area so volume discounts will apply.
