Home Inspection - New Construction Singe Family Home

We have our closing scheduled for next month. We plan to have a home inspection even though it's a new construction single family home. Can we also request the inspection reports from the builder during the different phases in which the city inspected the home -- i.e. dry wall etc.

Has anyone not done a home inspection on a new construction before?
