Convert Duplex to Triplex in Lemon Grove/San Diego, CA

Hi guys, I have a duplex on a large lot. I'd love to convert a duplex to a triplex or add another ADU in the back of the back unit. I'm currently renovating my rear/back unit and it is the perfect time to potentially add another unit to the lot.

I'm not sure how to get started on this project. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated!
