VA loan for multi unit

Hello everyone, I am a new investor and I am looking to get my first deal(house hack/BRRR). I was thinking of getting a fourplex or even a 5 unit out here in California using my VA loan. I just had a couple of questions. If I get a VA loan can I still BRRR? Can I partner with someone with my VA loan?

If you are looking to get a 5 plex on your own, you would not be able to use your VA benefits as the loan limits purchases up to 4 units.

A joint loan however with another veteran may possibly allow you to achieve 5 units; a lender would be able to qualify that further for you.

Just a note to remember as you do your search.
